Braun Epilators Review

The Braun Silk-épil is the top-selling epilator brand with millions sold worldwide. Braun has a variety of models to meet different price points and wish lists.

Whether you’re only looking for the basics, or you want an epilator with extra features like a shaver or high-tech face-scrubbing brush, Braun’s got you covered.

Here's our review of all the Braun epilators.

Braun Silk-épil 3

The Silk-épil 3 is the most basic and affordable epilator from Braun.

Unlike other epilators in this price point, it has a built-in Smartlight that helps you see fine hairs during epilation.

The SoftLift Tips technology also helps you to catch and grab more hairs.

The Series 3 only has 20 tweezers, so it’ll take longer to remove every hair, especially on larger areas like the legs.

Since it has to be plugged in during use, your freedom of movement will be limited, but it provides a steady charge.

This model isn't well-suited for epilating curvy areas since it doesn’t have a pivoting head.

You can’t use it in the tub or shower, and you can’t clean it under running water, either.

Overall, this is a good entry-level epilator if you’re just getting started with epilating or don’t want to spend a lot of money.

Braun Silk-épil 5 Power

The Silk-épil 5 Power is potent and feature-rich for its reasonable price.

It has 40 tweezers with close-grip technology, so it can remove hair twice as fast as the Series 3.

If you buy one of these epilators, you’ll have two speeds to choose from and a built-in Smartlight.

This epilator has a pivoting head that helps to remove hair from around curves.

You also receive a cooling glove to soothe your skin during and after epilation, a shaving head with trimmer attachment and an efficiency cap for getting close to the skin’s surface for maximum hair removal.

Unlike some of the pricier models, this epilator has to be plugged in during use, and it’s not waterproof.

The cord could use improvement; it tends to fall out if you aren’t careful to have it firmly pushed in.

Silk-épil 5 Wet & Dry

This epilator is a wet and dry model. You can use it anywhere, including in the shower or tub.

It has a pivoting head, two speeds and is fully washable.

It’s a cordless model with 28 tweezers; however, the battery life is only 30 minutes.

We mostly recommend this epilator for use on smaller areas; it simply doesn’t have the battery power or number of tweezers needed to remove hair efficiently from large areas such as the legs.

It also doesn’t have a built-in light. That can make it more difficult to see finer hairs for removal.

We recommend considering the Silk-épil 7 or Silk-épil 9 for a fully featured wet and dry epilator.

Braun Silk-épil 7

The Silk-épil 7 has more features than the Series 5 epilator. It has 40 tweezers for fast and thorough hair removal, and the high-frequency massage helps to decrease pain during epilation.

You’ll also receive a facial cap and a sensitive area cap for removing hair anywhere on the face or body. A shaving head with a trimmer attachment is also included.

This epilator is designed for cordless use, and you can take it into the tub or shower. The pivoting head helps you remove hair from curvy areas with ease, and the Smartlight makes sure you don’t miss any hair.

You can’t use this epilator while it’s plugged in, so you have to remember to charge it fully before each use.

The high price might be off-putting although it’s lower priced than the Series 9.

Braun Silk-épil 9

If you’re looking for a top of the line epilator, this is the one to get.

It’s 40 percent wider than the Series 7 although it has the same number of close grip-technology tweezers: 40.

You can use this fast and powerful epilator underwater, it’s cordless, and it has two speeds.

It also has a built-in light and a pivoting head. It comes with a bunch of accessories including a facial cap, a skin contact cap and a high-frequency massage cap.

You can’t use this epilator while it’s being charged.

If you already own a Series 7, there aren’t enough differences between the 7 and the 9 that you should run out and buy the 9.

But if you’re looking for a top of the line epilator that easily removes hairs from fine to coarse, we believe this is the best epilator out there.
